Systems Administrator - Grand Forks, ND (Full Time) Location: Grand Forks, ND
Summary: Design, implement, and maintains all server based systems, especially Linux systems. Resolves server based problems and advanced end user problems by troubleshooting and resolving software, hardware, and connectivity problems by performing the following duties. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Implement, and maintain active directory systems, including managing External and Internal DNS.
Support global VOIP (Asterisk) systems.
Implement and support all Linux systems, including OpenStack, Grid, Apache, Postfix, Nginix, HA proxy, and support systems such as Puppet and Spacewalk. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
Implement and maintain Windows Servers, MS Exchange systems, SMTP relays, File/Print servers, AD/DHCP, VMs, Lync, Tape backup systems, and other similar applications.
Assist implementing and supporting security requirements, policies and procedures.
Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes service requests received via production support as they relate to server operating systems based issues or advanced end user issues.
Isolates and resolves performance issues to determine cause of hardware malfunctions and software malfunctions.
Evaluates and performs PC/server updates and patches are required. Performs PC/server upgrades as required.
Troubleshoots server hardware and software problems and identifies, categorizes, and resolves server hardware and software application problems.
Coordinates preventative maintenance and vendor services as necessary.
Provide level 2 and level 3 supports to end users on desktop applications. For example, resolves advanced remote access issues, mail, printing issues, and networks connectivity issues.
Resolve issues that may occur within the ITSS production/development environments.
Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
Assist in managing the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection systems.
5+ year’s experience with Linux operating systems and MS server operating environments.
